Jeep Patriot Reliability?

I am thinking of buying a Jeep Patriot, but I am a little concerned about reliability. I have heard there are some electrical issues with it, as well as poor general workmanship (things falling off, etc.). Any comments?

With the way things are today, that would be enough info to discourage me from buying it. Go with a tried a true vehicle.Look in Motor Trend magazine, do some research on line. You can check with the National Highway Traffic Adm. also, Is the Jeep Patriot a relatively new vehicle? Thats another good reason not to buy one.

my wife has one, bought it with 2 miles on it last sept, now has 16K on it and it is perfect. it is great on gas and quite roomy for a small SUV

I would not be concerned at all. I have a new 08 Wrangler and it is perfect! Top notch workmanship. Jeep is upgrading the quality of the interior for 09, so I would go with an 09, which are now on dealer's lots. It is an extremely safe vehicle, which would make me want to have one even more. If we had the money, we would be trading in our old minivan for a Patriot, but financially we can't make that move right now.

As a long-time Jeep user, I know from experience that they are very reliable. There are 2 1999 Jeeps in my household, and they work great. Not sure about the new ones, but I have definitly not heard bad things about them. Personally, I'd go with the legendary Grand Cherokee, but its more expensive and I don't know if you need the room, depends on what you're looking for in a car. Either way, you can't go wrong with a Jeep. "There's only one"

I am also about to get one! And I have only ever heard good things about it. Electrical problems can happen to any car once you hit a certain number of miles.

My friend who is 17 now has had his 08 Patriot for about a year. It does have too much plastic on the outside and inside but it is still a very reliable car. He lifted it and mut on some bigger tires. He puts that car through hell and it still works perfect. He even took out the air box and made his own intake out of a filter and a lot of duct tape and the thing still runs great. Its not the greatest off roading vehicle in the world and it isnt a classic Jeep but its still a Jeep.
