Jeep Cherokee?!?
How reliable is a 1996 Jeep cherokee classic 4 cilinder 5 speed??? ... how good is it in road, off road and in mud with proper tires. this is actually to those who know about jeeps, the conditions of the truck are good overall, but I wanna know if it is a keeper or should I sell it sometime next year and get a more reliable automobile. thanks for helping

try posting your question on Edmunds.com and you will get some great information to use.
there is a lot of good stuff there just to read up on your vehicle.

i got pretty much the same thing with over 165k on it im going to lift it and i am the original owner n i no that they are great trucks...i live near world famous Jeff danials jeep shop and they said they have people coming in with jeeps with 300k+ on them and lifting them so you know that they last a long time.. a 4 cylander is great on gas.. all u need is a car that runs and starts everytime

Jeep Cherokee?!?
jeeps in general are great. especially the older ones they are super reliable. i would have to say the 4 cylinder is not going to be very powerful and will tend to kind of suck when you go up hill but it does get a bit better gas millage then the 4.0 inline 6. off road they are close to just as good as the inline 6 but once you get a big lift with tires on it its goin to bogg down again unless you put some crazy tall gears in the axles to make for some crazy gear reduction. if i was you i would find the same one with an inline 6, sell your 4 banger and get the one with the inline 6 you wont be sorry. my bro had a cherokee with the 4 and he hated it but ever since he got on with the 6 he never complains about lack of power or anything and he has like 160000+ miles on it.
