In order to get the van running again I have to disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes to have the system to reset. Then it will be good for anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks. I was wondering if I could do something that will correct this without having to take it to the dealership?

So basically you're saying the vehicle at some point won't start unless the comps are reset via the battery and that makes me right off the bat think that either you've a bad ground or bad circuit connection causing such issues or the main comp=PCM is acting up.Especially if you've tried to retrieve codes when it wont start or run and no codes exist then again it leads me to the PCM.

Simple do it yourself fix really just go to a U pick auto wreckers and look for a vehicle that has the same transmission , engine and features then remove it and change yours just be sure the battery is disconnected before ever changing any comps. What I might do is try to find a wreckers where they don't charge much for all the comps in that vehicle and remove all of them , then try the PCM to start off with.

I've seen it where one comp is causing others to act up and then I had to replace both otherwise the same problem would reoccur but remember a bad ground or bad grounds can cause such issues too so try and get free print outs of these circuits and the comps from a parts store or buy a service manual so you can check these grounds etc.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way my gut keeps saying that it's probably a internal era within a comp or a bad connection.

I'd be sure to check with the dealerships regarding any such issues or any possible related service bulletins or factory recall issues or any flash or program updates.
