Does anyone have any problems with their Dodge Dakota?
I have a 2006 Dodge dakota and between 60-65 MPH there is a really bad vibration in the truck. It feels like the tires are not balanced. But the dealer says that there is nothing wrong with the truck. Please Help?

Take it to a shop to see it, not the dealer, dealers probably wouldn't know as much.

Take it to another shop and get a quote in writing.

Have you taken the dealer mechanic for a ride to show him exactly what your feeling. If you do this and still don't get any help call Chrysler customer service (the # is in the owners manual) they were a big help when I had problems.

it can be a number of things. I have heard of this in some of the older gen 3 dakota V-6 versions. but that started at 45 to 50 MPH. but this is a first I have heard it in a GEN 4. like posted take the tech on the ride and show him what your talking about. if you still dont get what you want. find another dealership and do that till you find the right one. you can call customer service but its a hit or miss. as they mostly go by what the dealership says as truth.

case in point my 03 dakota. from a stand still if you let off the brake. the truck will roll jerking as it rolls. has always done this but they say its either normal or cant duplicate. I called customer service and at first they was going to help and said call back later. I called back later and they said the dealership said there was no problem and they wasnt going to re open the case file on my problem. I asked to talk to someone higher and they said there is no one above me and hung up on me.

I will suggest one thing. when going 55 to 60 MPH and the vibration starts. turn off the over drive and see if that stops it. if it does then it might be your tourqe converter problem. sorry I cant be of more help but you might want to try at a couple of sites I goto

http://www.dakota-durango.com

http://www.dakotausa.com.

not many gen 4 people in the first but they might be able to help you more in one of the two.

I have not encountered a vibration, but have experienced severe brake pulsation that would shake the entire truck. There is a
service bulletin that is supposed to correct issue. I work at a
dealership and have been told by field rep. that Chrysler does not have a true fix for the issue and changing rear axles and brake shoes is temporary. good luck

Dealers hate warranty work because the factory doesn't pay nearly as much as they would charge you. That's why when the vehicle is under warranty, "everything is fine", and once it's out - "everything needs to be replaced".
In your case, there is likely a combination of unbalanced tires and excessive play in steering/suspension.

it probaly is an out of balance tire, or the tire itself. take it somewhere else and have it looked at,the dealer probaly doesnt want to deal with it because itll cost them money.if it is the tire/balance,have that put in writing and show it to the service manager.if they still will not cover it under warranty, file a complaint with the better business bureau, and inform the general manager of your intentions.this will usually cause a change of heart.if you do buy a new set of tires/or a balance at another place, file it with small claims court.
