How can you restore horsepower on a 2003 PT Cruiser?

We have a 2003 PT Cruiser with around 130,000 miles on it. When starting off the line, it takes a while to get to 25 mph, even at around 2500 rpms. Is there something I should be doing the keep the horsepower up?

is you re service eng light on,or have you done you're tuneup like fuel filter,plugs wires,air,filter

I would start with spark plugs. Easy to put in, inexpensive, with great engine power results and smooth performance.

if it were mine I would do a compression test if all cylinders showed good compression I would do a complete tune up...for this car ..a shop will probably charge 100 to 150 dollars more than the parts will cost..thats cheap money to get good transportation back

i own a shop and those usually don't loose power to bad,you might want to try giving it a good tune up a new set of plugs and gas filter will help it a lot,id just do a complete tune up on it because those really shouldn't loose power at that many miles,if the spark plugs are worn out in it that will make it loose power but a complete tune up should help it a lot,i have the same thing almost with more miles and it still runs excellent,so your probably in need of a real good tune up,hope this helps good luck with it.
