how can i give my dodge charger more power?
i have a 2007 2.6 liter v6 dodge charger, i wish i could have afforded a more powerful model but i couldn't. i now have a few thousand dollars that i want to spend on some upgrades. what all can i do to it to make it faster and more powerful? is it possible to upgrade the whole engine. i heard the transition from a 2.7 to a 3.5 liter isnt difficult?

put a turbo or supercharger on it. its a bit expensive but that would be a way to get a lot more power on the engine. good luck.

boy,you really missed the boat...Hypertech Power Programmer,K&N cold air intake,Grantelli Mass Air Flow Sensor. i'm not sure about the cost of a supercharger ,but close to 3 grand i think. Paxon or Roush are the two best known, type them into your searchbox.

To start get a cold air intake. their between $40-$200 that will add around 20+ hp about 15ft lbs tq, another either get a turbo charger or a supercharger, a supercharger adds alot of power depending on what you get 100hp to 500 and up, turbo's better for acceleration, or you can swap out the engine all togethor, you can get a 340ci block bored to a 416ci stroker with around 600-700 hp for around 4 thousand dollars, hope this helps

It's not worth it to try to get more power out of a 2.7L. Not a put down, I owned a 2001 Intrepid with the 2.7 for 5 years before trading it in for the 2006 Magnum 3.5L that I own now. Big difference between the 2 engines. There just isn't a lot of aftermarket performance parts for the 2.7L other than a CAI or a catback exhaust. Those 2 will give you maybe 12 hp which you will hardly feel and it would cost you an easy $1000 for those. My advice is forget adding more power and put the money into improving the handling, like a anti-sway bar kit or some better wheels and tires. You could put a 3.5 in it and that will give you the biggest performance upgrade, but it can be a pain to change the computer and such. Check out lxforums.com & dodgeintrepid.net for info and ask people on both. Some have done the 2.7 to 3.5 swap on the Intrepids and they can tell you just what's involved if you decide to go that route. I'm currently a member on both forums.

its not worth the switch from going to a 3.5 in that car,if it were me id take the few thousand and trade it for car with the engine in it that i wanted, you can buy those cars now for way less money than they was selling at a year ago,i bought an 06 hemi car for 10 grand ,yes a hemi car and sold it to friend who wrecked his, wait for the price of gas to go back up ,which its already going up a lot and the price of the v-8 cars will come down a lot more, its not a hard transition but its really not worth the trouble do do it ,good luck.
